China Indirectly Hits NK Provocations

China has indirectly expressed discontent over North Korea's missile launches. The North test-fired four short-range missiles into the East Sea Thursday and an additional seven missiles Saturday.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei held talks with Russian counterpart Alexei Borodavkin in Moscow. Chinese media say the two diplomats agreed that concerned parties must remain calm and stay away from moves that could harm stability in Northeast Asia.

The agreement was reached after news broke of the North's missile launches. Chinese media say Beijing expressed discontent over the launches.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has not officially responded to the launches, but diplomatic sources in Beijing say China fears they will aggravate the political situation on the Korean Peninsula and trigger an arms race.
