Clinton: No Plans to Meet with N.Koreans at ARF

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she has no plans to meet with North Korean officials on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum.

Clinton made the statement during an interview with Fox News Channel on Tuesday, one day ahead of the opening of the ASEAN meeting in Phuket, Thailand.

She said that what the U.S. is interested in is getting North Korea to come back to the negotiating table and continuing discussions that will lead to a denuclearized Korean Peninsula.

She added that the U.S. is ready to respond if it gets any signal that there would be a serious commitment from the North to denuclearize.

Meanwhile, a senior U.S. government official said the North will be offered a comprehensive aid package if it first takes irreversible steps regarding its nuclear program.
