'Switzerland Bans Financial Services on NK Goods'

U.S. government broadcaster Voice of America says the Swiss federal government has announced sanctions on North Korea in line with U.N. Resolution 1874 and has banned financial services linked to North Korean contraband.

In the announcement made July first, the Swiss government reconfirmed its existing ban on the use of financial assets for North Korean nuclear or missile plans. It has also banned financial services related to all weaponry, including heavy artillery and personal firearms.

VOA said Switzerland is also preparing follow-up sanctions in line with additional U.N. sanctions announced last week. The follow-ups are expected to include the freezing of assets on North Korean individuals, companies and agencies as well as travel bans.
