'No Plans for US-NK Contact During ARF'

Washington's special envoy for the six-party talks, Sung Kim, says the United States has no plans to contact North Korea.

Kim, who is in Phuket, Thailand to participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum, told reporters that there are no plans for bilateral contact during the regional security gathering.

In a news conference in Bangkok Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also said she had no plans to meet with North Korean officials on the sidelines of the ASEAN forum.

The North Korean delegation is avoiding contact with reporters as much as possible, with North Korean delegate Ri Dong-il and Thailand's Vice Foreign Minister Panich Vikitsreth holding a meeting Wednesday morning to discuss bilateral issues.
