US to Consider Placing NK Back on Terror List

The U.S. Senate has approved a bill asking the U.S. administration to consider putting North Korea back on its list of state terrorism sponsors.

The bill passed a Senate plenary session with a vote of 66 to 31 on Wednesday, local time.

The bill urges the U.S. administration to give serious consideration to the re-designation of the North as a state terrorism sponsor and to report the decision to Congress within 30 days.

The bill also demands that Washington strictly enforce sanctions on North Korea and consider taking more punitive measures against the communist country.

The U.S. removed North Korea from the terrorism sponsor list in October of last year in a diplomatic effort to try to spur the North to denuclearize.
