Newly found medicals record show the gunman behind the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre received psychological consultations and treatment prior to the shooting.
Ethnic Korean student Cho Seung-Hui went on the killing spree in April 2007, killing 32 people. He ended the rampage by killing himself, bringing the death toll to 33.
The medical records, found at the residence of the counseling center’s former director, Robert C. Miller, could provide valuable information in a compensation suit bereaved families of the victims filed against the school and the Virginia State government.
Virginia Governor Tim Kaine said the medical records were found on July 18th at Miller’s residence. Miller left Cook Counseling Center more than a year before the shooting.
The governor said police are still investigating how the records disappeared from the medical center.
The records are expected to reveal whether the school's medical officials has taken appropriate measures regarding Cho's mental condition prior to the shooting.
