ASEAN Forum Awaits NK Response to Clinton's Remarks

A North Korean delegation attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum in Phuket, Thailand, is expected to announce its position on its nuclear program during the forum Thursday.

North Korean delegate Ri Hung-sik told reporters Wednesday that his delegation will explain its position on the nuclear issue on Thursday, the final day of the forum.

The North Korean delegation is also expected to present its response to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Wednesday remarks aimed at the communist state.

Clinton said that if Pyongyang agrees to irreversible denuclearization, the United States and its partners will move forward with a package of incentives and opportunities, including a possible normalization of relations.
