NK Says Six-Party Talks Over in ASEAN Statement

North Korea reiterated in a chairman’s statement adopted at the ASEAN Regional Forum on Thursday that it will not rejoin the six-way denuclearization talks.

The statement includes the North’s claim that the U.S. instigated the adoption of a recent U.N. resolution sanctioning Pyongyang for recent nuclear and missile tests. Due to this the North said it fully rejects the resolution.

The North also included a claim in which Pyongyang blamed so-called hostile U.S. policies toward the North as having resulted in mounting tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Meanwhile, the regional forum’s statement added that some countries are condemning North Korea’s recent nuclear tests and have stressed the need for the full implementation of the new U.N. resolution against Pyongyang and the establishment of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula through six-way nuclear talks.
