'China Vows Efforts to Resume Six-Party Talks'

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has reaffirmed that China is doing its utmost to resume the six-party nuclear talks.

Yang made the remarks at a news conference Friday after a meeting of foreign ministries at the 16th ASEAN Regional Forum in Phuket, Thailand.

He said that China is maintaining open lines of communication with countries participating in the six-way talks, in hopes of resuming the multilateral dialogue,

The minister, however, failed to elaborate whether China has maintained such discussions with North Korea.

Yang stressed that all six parties must seek a resumption to the talks, saying that doing so would serve the interests of each country.
