EU to Slap Added Sanctions on NK

The European Union says it will impose its own sanctions on North Korea in addition to those mandated by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874.

The foreign ministers of the 27 EU member states held a meeting in Brussels on Monday. During the meeting, they adopted a joint stance to "strictly" enforce the U.N. resolution in line with an EU summit chairman's statement adopted last month.

The EU says it will install measures necessary to comprehensively enforce the U.N. resolution, including a ban on specific exports to North Korea and a freezing of assets.
