US, China to Cooperate on Sanctions Against NK

The United States and China have agreed to work together to implement U.N. sanctions against North Korea.

In Washington, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton held high-level talks with a team from Beijing to discuss the matter.

The two sides issued a joint statement after the meeting, calling for the resumption of the six-party nuclear talks and the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Clinton said that during the meeting, the two countries agreed to cooperate on a number of foreign policy challenges, such as North Korea, Iran and counterterrorism.

Beijing reaffirmed its support for denuclearization and opposition to nuclear proliferation and stressed it will faithfully carry out U.N. sanctions against Pyongyang.
