North Korea has opened its first fast-food restaurant.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the Western-styled “Samtaeseong” burger joint’s manager said the restaurant in Pyongyang is gaining popularity. He said there are even plans to open more branches in the North Korean capital.

After dining at the restaurant, a British tourist said it was very clean and it appeared every effort had been made to present the food well.

A single hamburger runs about one dollar and 70 cents, or about half the average daily wage of a North Korean worker.

According to the Choson Sinbo, the organ of a pro-North Korea association of ethnic Koreans in Japan, the North opened Samtaeseong in downtown Pyongyang in early June.
