World Leaders Mourn Kim DJ’s Death

World leaders are continuing to express their condolences over the death of former President Kim Dae-jung.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva paid his respects to the former president in a letter to President Lee Myung-bak.
The Brazilian president said Kim’s “Sunshine” engagement policy toward North Korea expanded inter-Korean exchanges and left an important historical landmark on the Korean Peninsula.
Jordan’s King Abdullah the Second also expressed his condolences in a message to President Lee Myung-bak.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Seoul James Laney visited a memorial altar for Kim set up in Atlanta and expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former president.
Laney said he lost a friend he loved and respected, while South Korea lost a great leader and a dauntless guardian of democracy.
