NK Excluded from US Envoy's Visit to Region

The United States says its key envoy on North Korea will soon visit the member countries of the six-way nuclear talks, excluding North Korea.

Assistant Secretary of State Philip Crowley told reporters Thursday that one of the objectives of Stephen Bosworth’s potential travel to the region will be to consult closely with regional partners on the current situation regarding North Korea’s nuclear issue and how it should be addressed. Crowley added that the upcoming trip will not include a stop in the North.

Crowley also said Washington has yet to make a decision on the North’s wish to hold bilateral talks, hinting that Bosworth would likely discuss the issue with countries concerned when he visits the region.
