Australia Probing Ship Carrying NK Weapons

Australia says it has launched an investigation into an Australian-owned vessel which was found to be carrying North Korean weapons in violation of a U.N. resolution.

The ship, which was on its way to Iran, is currently under probe by customs authorities of the United Arab Emirates.

The Australian Associated Press quoted Transport Minister Anthony Albanese as saying that his country will fully abide by the U.N. sanctions resolution on North Korea that bans all arms exports from the communist state.

The minister said the Foreign Ministry is looking into the issue to see whether the vessel violated Australian law.
