U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has visited the Dasan Korean Arctic Station on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, part of the Svalbard Archipelago in the Arctic Ocean.

During his visit, Ban said it is his responsibility to urge the leaders of nations around the world to immediately pursue measures to tackle global warming.

Ban will also visit areas where the arctic ice is thinning the most to see firsthand the impact of climate change.
