Green Cross to Join WHO Flu Vaccine Tender

Local drug producer Green Cross will take part in the World Health Organization’s seasonal influenza vaccine tender.

According to the Korea Food and Drug Administration and local pharmaceutical companies Wednesday, the Pan American Health Organization under the WHO will include Korean seasonal flu vaccines certified by the Korea Food and Drug Administration in its vaccine tender for 2009 and 2010 for South American countries.

The Green Cross GC Flu vaccine won the drug administration’s permit in July. It marked the first time for a Korean vaccine to be included in a WHO tender.

The Pan American Health Organization recently notified vaccine producing firms in countries around the world that it will launch a public tender for seasonal flu vaccines that will be provided to some 18 million people in South American countries.
