US Vows Multilateral Cooperation on NK Issues

The United States has stressed that its decisions regarding North Korea’s nuclear issue will be made through very close consultations with parties of the six-way nuclear talks.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters Wednesday that Washington has been very clear in its stance that whatever it does regarding Pyongyang will be done with close consultations with the members of the nuclear talks. He said the U.S. believes the multilateral framework is the best way to solve the North’s nuclear impasse.

Kelly made the remark after being asked to comment on a Yonhap News report that quoted a South Korean government official as saying that the five non-North Korean members of the multilateral framework agreed on a U.S.-North Korea bilateral meeting to facilitate the six-nation talks.
