Korean School in Beijing Closes amid H1N1 Scare

The Korean community in China is on high alert after a series of confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza at a Korean school in Beijing.

The Korean International School of Beijing said Monday that one elementary student was confirmed to have the new flu last Wednesday and three additional students in the same grade were confirmed over the weekend.

The school, which is comprised of some 16-hundred kindergarten to high school students, said it will close until September 18th.

An official at the South Korean Embassy in Beijing said the number of Koreans in China that have caught the new flu is increasing, citing that six of a total of 13 confirmed cases in Koreans were reported this month.
