UN Reaffirms Sanctions against NK

The U.N. Security Council has included four of its sanctions against North Korea in a draft of its new resolution on nuclear proliferation and disarmament.

The draft will be adopted at a U.N. conference on a comprehensive nuclear-test ban treaty later this month.

U.S. online political magazine Politico said the draft reaffirms the latest U.N. resolution 1874 and three other resolutions that sanction Pyongyang for its nuclear activities.

But the draft did not specify North Korea as the target of the sanctions.

The U.S., which currently holds the rotating UNSC presidency, circulated the draft among member countries.

The U.N. Security Council passed resolution 1874 in June after Pyongyang conducted a second nuclear test in May.
