US to Offer Incentives for NK Denuclearization

The United States says that if a round of bilateral talks proposed by North Korea is realized, Washington will discuss incentives that can be provided to the North.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters Tuesday that one of the ways Washington can perhaps get North Korea to engage is by explaining, directly and clearly, what the purpose of the talks are and what the possible consequences and incentives could be.

The U.S. is believed to be focusing on bringing North Korea back to the six-way nuclear dialogue with a promise of incentives that reportedly include normalized ties and a security guarantee in return for the North’s implementation of denuclearization measures.
