Japan’s new foreign minister says trust is the most important part of South Korea-Japan relations.

During a courtesy call South Korean Ambassador to Japan Kwon Chul-hyeon made to the minister Friday, Okada said he believes trust between the two nations has matured and he hopes relations will continue to strengthen.

Okada said that the Democratic Party of Japan’s dethroning of the Liberal Democratic Party in last month’s election is a meaningful development and that Tokyo plans to cooperate with Seoul to the utmost in regards to global agenda.

Kwon hoped Japan’s new administration will contribute to the prosperity and security of not only Japan, but also the world.
