US: No Plans to Meet Any NK Official in NY

The U.S. State Department says the U.S has no plans to meet any officials from North Korea during the U.N. General Assembly in New York.

In a daily news briefing Monday, department spokesman Ian Kelly also said that there’s been no decision on whether or not U.S. nuclear envoy on North Korea Stephen Bosworth will accept an invitation extended by Pyongyang to visit the communist state.

Kelly added that although there are no meetings slated with the North Koreans, there will be a number of consultations in New York regarding the nuclear issue.

He said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will meet with the foreign ministers of South Korea and Japan and that Ambassador Sung Kim, U.S. special envoy to the talks, will also meet soon with his counterparts in New York.
