Russian Carmaker Denies Tech. Theft Charge

A Russian news outlet says Russian carmaker TagAZ strongly denies probe results by South Korean prosecutors saying that TagAZ Korea employees stole technologies from GM Daewoo and used them to develop new models for the Russian company.

A Russian financial paper quoted TagAZ as insisting that their new model was made completely with their own technology. The company said the leak claim may be an attempt by rival firms to hurt their sales.

Korean prosecutors investigating the technology leak of GM Daewoo’s Lacetti model has arrested seven suspects, including former GM researchers charged with stealing the Lacetti design blueprint when they moved jobs to TagAZ Korea.

Established in 1998, TagAZ Korea manufactures 100-thousand passenger automobiles every year.
