A group of North Koreans has entered the Danish Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam seeking political asylum.

Danish Ambassador Peter Hansen told Reuters that the group entered the embassy premise but declined to disclose the number of people and other details.

A South Korean activist, who helps North Koreans leave the communist state, claimed to have sent nine North Korean asylum seekers to the embassy.

Meanwhile, the South Korean Foreign Ministry avoided commenting on the issue. The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry did not have an immediate comment.
