Korea Biz Center Opens in Syria

A Korean trade center opened Friday in Syria.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency held an opening ceremony for the Korea Business Center in the capital of Damascus on Friday and vowed efforts to expand bilateral trade and economic exchanges with the nation.

Korean exports to Syria topped 400 million dollars in 2005 and have since posted double-digit growth each year to reach 780 million dollars last year. Over 60 percent of the shipments have been made up of automobiles.

Syria is the only country in the Middle East that has yet to forge diplomatic ties with Korea.
