Three U.S. experts on affairs related to the Korean Peninsula have arrived in North Korea to research policies regarding the two Koreas.
The group, including President of the Korea Economic Institute Jack Pritchard and the director of the Asia Foundation’s Center for U.S.-Korea Policy Scott Snyder, arrived in the North on Saturday for a four-day stay.
Though the group’s visit is aimed at research, their trip is expected to affect the upcoming U.S.-North Korea bilateral talks that will open in Pyongyang on December eighth.
The experts are reportedly planning to meet with key Pyongyang officials related to North Korea-U.S. relations and the North’s nuclear program.
The group will brief the State Department on the results of its trip when it returns home on Tuesday.
