Pilot: NK Weapons Plane Headed to Ukraine

The transport plane seized Saturday in Thailand on suspicion of carrying North Korean weapons was reportedly bound for Ukraine.

The Thai newspaper The Nation cited the pilot's comments to police.

The pilot Mikhail Petukhou, a Belarussian, said the plane departed from Ukraine, loaded the cargo in North Korea, left Pyongyang, and was to be refueled in Thailand and Sri Lanka before delivering the weapons to Ukraine.

Prior to the pilot's remarks, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other Middle Eastern nations were speculated as the final destination.

The pilot also said the flight attendants did not know about the weapons.
