USFK Troops Could Head O'seas

Commander of U.S. Forces Korea General Walter Sharp says USFK forces must be able to be deployed to other trouble spots in the region, should the need arise.

Sharp made the remark while giving a speech on the future of the South Korea-U.S. alliance at a forum in Washington hosted by the U.S. Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Sharp stressed the need for the USFK to be more regionally engaged and globally deployed.

Though hinting that a deployment would not be immediate, he said that sometime in the future U.S. and/or South Korean forces could, with consultations between both nations, be able to deploy in different places around the world.
