NK Police Chief Visits China

The police chief of North Korea visited China on Tuesday.

North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said that a North Korean delegation led by Ju Sang-song, the head of the Ministry of People’s Security, left Pyongyang for China by plane on Tuesday.

But the North Korean news agency did not elaborate on the schedule and purpose of the delegation’s visit.

This is the first time the head of North Korea’s Ministry of People’s Security has visited China since North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s leadership officially launched in 1998.

Ju visited Russia in June 2005. During the visit, he and Russian authorities agreed to jointly crack down on organized crime and drug trafficking.

The Ministry of People’s Security is North Korea’s main police organization.
