Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration said it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production.

The MOU contains the formation of a joint committee on the production and procurement of defense industry materials.

Egypt is the first African nation to sign an MOU with Korea for a defense industry alliance, opening up the market for such exports to the African nation. The deal is also expected to provide a foothold for Korea to begin making defense-related exports to other African countries.
