UN Hails S.Korea's Move to Lift HIV Travel Ban

The United Nations is hailing a move by South Korea and the United States to lift travel bans on people with HIV.

The U.N. has also urged 57 other countries with HIV travel restrictions to lift them immediately.

Seoul announced its decision to remove such travel bans last Friday, while a new U.S. rule that eliminates the travel restrictions went into force on Monday.

The elimination of the ban allows travelers who are HIV positive to enter either country.
