Chinese media are paying close attention to whether the six-way nuclear talks will resume and whether the dialogue framework will witness any shifts.
China’s Xinhua News Agency said the United States has dismissed North Korea’s Monday proposal to hold talks on establishing a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
Washington says that the North’s denuclearization is a precondition for discussions on the establishment of a peace regime.
Other Chinese media, including the People’s Daily, are focusing on the possibility that the six-nation talks could resume soon.
Meanwhile, rumors are spreading in the diplomatic circle in Beijing that the six-way talks will resume around April and that Pyongyang and Beijing are holding contacts for final preparations for the talks’ resumption.
