Korean American Named Air Guard Brigadier General

A Korean American has been named an Air National Guard brigadier general for the first time.

Joseph Kim, leader of the 154th Wing Command, received his first star as brigadier general during a ceremony at the Hawaii State Capitol last Friday.

The 154th Wing is one of the largest units in the Air National Guard.

Kim graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1982 and is a third generation Korean American. His father also served in the U.S. Army and Air Force.
