16 More S.Koreans Evacuate Haiti

Sixteen more South Korean expatriates were evacuated from earthquake-stricken Haiti to the neighboring Dominican Republic on Thursday afternoon (local time).

Haiti was hit by a magnitude seven earthquake, its strongest in more than 200 years, on Wednesday.

The South Korean embassy in the Dominican Republic said Korean workers at a garment company safely arrived in Barahona, west of the capital city of Santo Domingo.

The 16 South Koreans left Haiti by bus on Thursday morning.

Previously, 21 South Koreans evacuated Haiti to the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
