President to Visit India, Switzerland

President Lee Myung-bak will embark on a weeklong visit to India and Switzerland on January 24th.

The Presidential Office announced on Friday that Lee and First Lady Kim Yun-ok will pay a state visit to India from January 24th to 27th at the invitation of Indian President Pratibha Patil.

Lee will meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on January 25th to discuss ways to promote bilateral collaboration and then announce a joint declaration.

After three days in India, the president will fly to Switzerland on January 27th to attend the two-day World Economic Forum in Davos that opens on the following day.

On the first day of the conference, the president will deliver a special address and discuss the role Seoul intends to play as host of this year's G-20 summit in promoting the sustainable balanced growth in the post-crisis global economy, green growth and entrepreneurship.

Before attending the economc forum, Lee will meet with FIFA President Joseph Blatter at the FIFA secretariat.

The president will return home on January 30th.
