'Korea Likely to Win Turkey's Nuke Plant Bid'

Turkish media say Korea is likely to win the bid for building two nuclear power plants in Turkey.

Turkish daily Hurriyet said that Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to have Korea build nuclear power plants in Sinop after two other plants in Akkuyu are planned to be built by Russia.

Energy ministry officials of Turkey were cited saying they want the Korea and U.S. consortium to take on the task to lower Turkey's energy dependency on Russia.

Planning to build two nuclear plants in both Akkuyu and Sinop on the Black Sea, Turkey put up the construction and management of the plants to an international bid in the spring of last year.
