UN Agencies Developing 5-Year Plan for NK

U.N. agencies working in North Korea are known to be devising a five-year aid plan to halve the number of the North starving population.

Radio Free Asia says U.N. agencies taking part in the plan include the U.N. Development Program, UNICEF and the World Food Program.

The agencies are focusing efforts on developing and maximizing the use of the North's alternative and sustainable energy resources.

A source at the development program told Radio Free Asia that the five-year plan is aimed at developing comprehensive aspects of the North in four sectors: nutrition and social development; healthcare; climate change; and economic development.
