S.Korean Replacement Rescue Workers Arrive in Haiti

An 18-member South Korean relief and rescue team has arrived in quake-stricken Haiti, replacing a team of compatriots that had been assisting in search-and-rescue operations since Monday.

The team consists of doctors and nurses from the National Medical Center and the Korean Foundation for International Healthcare as well as rescue workers from the Defense Ministry.

The team began operations in the Caribbean nation early Friday morning.

South Korea’s ambassador to the Dominican Republic, who also serves as the ambassador to Haiti, arrived in Haiti together with the relief and rescue team on Friday.

The nation’s first relief and rescue team that left for Haiti on Sunday wrapped up their operations on Thursday.
