South Koreans have been found to account for the second largest number of foreigners who enter Australia as part of the “working holiday visa program.”

According to South Korea’s consulate in Sydney, 39-thousand-500 South Koreans visited Australia on the working holiday visa program from July 2008 to June 2009. The number is only 670 less than the number of British visitors who partook in the program.

The consulate said that the number of South Korean visitors on working holiday visas has been increasing by up to 21 percent each year.

South Korea and Australia signed an agreement on the visa program in March 1995, which grants special one-year visas to people ages 18 to 30 who are looking for temporary jobs while traveling in either country.

However, only 66 Australians entered South Korea on working holiday visas in 2008.
