'More UN Officials to Visit NK'

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's special envoy to North Korea Lynn Pascoe says the U.N. will send more high-level officials to North Korea soon.

Pascoe made a visit to North Korea last week and is the highest-ranking U.N. figure to have done so since 2004.

He said that the U.N. has resumed dialogue with North Korea and is planning to hold additional meetings with the communist country within the next several months.

The envoy said that no confirmations have been made in regards to rumors that North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-kwan will soon visit the U.S. to reciprocate a visit to the North made my U.S. special envoy Stephen Bosworth in December.

Pasco added, however, that the U.N. would be “delighted” to have any North Korean official visit U.N. headquarters in New York.
