US: No Plans for Bilateral Talks with N.Korea

The U.S. State Department says it is has no plans to hold a second round of bilateral talks with North Korea.

Deputy State Department spokesman Mark Toner made the remark to reporters on Wednesday.

Toner also said the U.S. has nothing to announce on reports that North Korea’s top nuclear envoy Kim Kye-kwan may be planning a visit to the U.S. in March.

However, a diplomatic source in South Korea says plans are in the making to have Kim attend an academic seminar in the U.S. where he could meet with U.S. officials.

Toner’s remarks come two months after the U.S. sent special envoy on North Korea Stephen Bosworth to the North to try to lure Pyongyang back to the stalled denuclearization negotiations.
