Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun daily says Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, will open a new airport on March eleventh.

Currently, South Korea's Asiana Airlines is the only international airline that has signed on with the airport. Asiana will operate two flights a day, one from Incheon International Airport at 10 a.m. to Ibaraki and one returning to Korea at 1 p.m.

The new airport’s 27-hundred-meter runway is located at the Hyakuri Japan Air Self-Defense Force base.

Ibaraki is Japan's 98th airport.
