The Voice of America says a U.S. organization is seeking to invite North Korean nuclear envoy Kim Kye-kwan to an academic forum in the U.S.

Citing a diplomatic source, the U.S. broadcaster said the National Committee on American Foreign Policy is working to invite Kim to a forum it is hosting in New York March third and fourth.

But the report said North Korea's decision and the U.S. government's approval have yet to come. It said that without a guaranteed meeting with U.S. officials, a North Korean delegation is unlikely to accept the invitation.
