Clinton Hopes Congress will Begin FTA Consultations

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has reiterated the U.S. government’s support toward the ratification of free trade accords with South Korea, Panama and Colombia.

Clinton told a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing Friday that as President Barack Obama said in his State of the Union address last month, the U.S. is committed to these Free Trade Agreements. She added that she hopes Washington will begin consultation and consensus building within Congress.

Citing that she will be visiting Latin America next week, Clinton said Panama and Colombia are working to have the trade pacts ratified in Congress.
