US House Votes to Recognize Korean Americans’ Contributions

A U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a resolution to recognize Korean Americans’ contributions to American society next week.

The resolution, which was unanimously adopted by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Thursday, says that more than one million people in the U.S. can trace their roots to Korea, many of which have made significant contributions to American society.

The sponsor, New Jersey Republican Congressman Scott Garrett, said the resolution hopes to acknowledge the contributions of the Korean-American community that has also served as an example to other immigrant communities.
