Embassy to Better Protect Koreans in Russia

Ambassador to Russia Lee Youn-ho has pledged better protection of Koreans in Russia in the wake of a string of attacks against Korean students there.

The embassy has formed a task force to that end.

Lee told reporters in Moscow that as part of its efforts to improve the safety of Koreans, the embassy will obtain the residential and e-mail addresses of all Korean residents in Russia and distribute safety guidelines and data on crime-ridden districts.

He also urged the Russian government to help prevent a recurrence of similar incidents.

Lee will also ask the Russian Foreign Ministry to arrest those who attack Koreans in Russia as soon as possible.
