North Korea has once again allowed consular access to an American it is detaining.

U.S. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters in Washington on Tuesday that officials of the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang had met with the American citizen in the previous 24 hours.

Officials of the Swedish embassy, which represents U.S. consular interests in the North, also met with the detainee on Sunday.

However, Crowley did not elaborate on the American’s identity or how he came to be detained.

In late January, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said the American illegally entered the country via the North-China border.
