US Dismisses S.Korean News Report on NK Nuke Test

The U.S. is dismissing South Korean news reports that North Korea could be preparing to conduct another nuclear test.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told a regular news briefing in Washington Tuesday that the U.S. is skeptical of the reports about North Korea’s possible preparations for a third nuclear test.

Crowley said, however, that the U.S. will keep watching for evidence of any provocative activity by North Korea.

South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan also dismissed the report, saying that there is no information or circumstantial evidence that suggests North Korea is preparing for another nuclear test.

A South Korean newspaper reported on Tuesday that the North may be preparing for another nuclear test in May or June.
