Europe Flight Operations Near Normalization

Operations at most airports in Europe have been normalized nearly one week after a volcanic eruption in Iceland bogged down flights in the region.

Eurocontrol, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, says that 80 percent of flight operations have returned to normal and that the figure should reach 100 percent by Thursday.

French authorities say that the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports are operating normally, including long-distance flights.

However, many airlines are struggling to adjust flight schedules to accommodate the passengers on waiting lists.

Citing an industry official, AFP News says it could take weeks for European airlines to realign the scheduling.

Due to the volcanic eruption, a total of 95-thousand flights were canceled and seven million people had their travel plans disrupted, including 55-hundred Koreans.
